You Can Stop Pretending To Ignore Other Transit Riders on Three Vancouver Buses

Thanks to spotty mobile phone service, those moments when you have to acknowledge other transit riders on the 99 B-line, may finally be over. Telus teamed up with Translink to install free Wi-Fi on 3 buses in Metro Vancouver to ensure your Instagram feed loads with more Kim Kardashian selfies.

As of last Friday, Telus is generously providing free Wi-Fi on the 99, 351, and 555 routes. The specific buses are 8125, 9258, 9266 and look like the above image. It’s a pilot service available for a limited time only so they’d like you to tweet @TELUSsupport if you’re having issues.

According to this photo, the buses have two free Wi-Fi networks on board. This makes it easy to switch to another network in case someone is downloading the entire series of Game of Thrones.

To promote the new free Wi-Fi service and to apologize for not being an air conditioning manufacturer, Telus is giving away a Samsung Note 8 LTE Tablet to 2 winners. To enter, complete the following steps:

1. Spot one of the TELUS Wifi Buses
2. Tweet or Instagram the location, tagging @TELUS and the hashtag #TELUSWifiBus (inclusion of a photo is optional – photos must not contain persons other than yourself)
No purchase necessary. By tweeting when you spot the TELUS WiFi Bus en route, using the hashtag #TELUSWiFiBus, you could win one (1) of two (2) Samsung Note 8 LTE Tablet (valued at $479 Cdn each).
