With so much talk about the need for bike lanes in cities around the world, little discussion has been focused on making them better. A Dutch designer took upon himself to create a safer and quite frankly a beautiful glowing bike path. This kilometer-long bike path was developed using both glow-in-the-dark technology and solar-powered LEDs to help bicyclists stay on track when they ride at night.
Dutch artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde created the innovative glowing bike path to look like Van Gogh’s famous Starry Night painting. The Glowing Bike Path is located in Brabant, the Dutch county where Van Gogh was born and raised.
Daan Roosegaarde’s company Studio Roosegaarde is currently in talk with the City of Toronto to bring its Van Gogh-inspired glowing bicycle path to their city in time for the 2015 Pan Am Games.
