Only Six Months After the 2014 Winter Olympics, Sochi Turned Into A Ghost Town

A blogger recently visited Sochi for the 6-month anniversary of the 2014 Winter Olympics and found it’s now a Ghost town. With a whopping $50 billion investment into the area, Vladimir Putin is left with a decaying town that is all but abandoned with “nothing to do.”

Although the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics may not have been a immediate financial success, Vancouver appears to have flourished in the past four years attracting visitors and foreign investment. Unlike in Sochi, most of the new infrastructure is being put to use around Metro Vancouver.

The photos below of Sochi were just taken this summer which isn’t peak season but it appears it may be years before their Olympic investment is paid off.
